Tooling Technician

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • We are recruiting a tooling technician who will be responsible for resolving tooling breakdowns, TPM’s and maintain Press tools, fixtures and jigs across the site.
  • Problem solving of issues on press tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
  • You will work with production to undertake tool changes, between variants as required in press tooling and special purpose machines.
  • Ensuring product is kept in specification to engineering drawings from pressed parts to clinched joints on special purpose machines. 
  • Keep an up-to-date spares inventory.
  • Ensure the time management system is kept up to date. 
  • Effectively identify day to day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required.
  • Ensure all tooling is safe and production ready at the time its returned for production, following a correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
  • Follow up repair work by seeking feedback from the production and quality departments and completing a record of all the work undertaken.
 

WHAT YOU BRING ALONG

  • Time served as an apprentice in a relevant discipline and or previous experience in a maintenance role.
  • An Understanding of press tooling for Hydraulic and mechanical presses with a manual and vacuum tandem transfer system.
  • An understanding of press tooling processes for metal work from forming to cutting and so on  
  • Competent in using milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, bench grinder, etc and in equipment inspection. (micrometer, height indicator, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Ability to follow and execute the preventative maintenance program.
  • TIG and MIG welding capabilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills with 'hands on' problem solving expertise and a proactive approach to work.
  • Full Driving Licence.
